Dr. Rhyjob Henry G. Cabugwas—known to our church family as Pastor Rj—serves as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Spring Valley. Born in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, Philippines, he has devoted his life to preaching God’s Word, making disciples, and planting churches. Over the past 14 years, he has helped establish eight churches, reflecting his passion for Gospel-centered ministry and leadership.
Pastor Rj holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Baptist Bible Seminary & Institute in Manila, a Master’s Degree and PhD from Great Plains Baptist Divinity School, and an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities from the University of the United States Service Command of America.
He currently serves as a board member of GraceDrive Ministries Inc., a Chaplain in the United States Service Command, and a member of the Council of 18 in the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC).
He is joyfully married to Phebe Baldimor, a graduate of Doane Baptist Bible Institute who recently completed her Master of Religious Education from Great Plains Baptist Divinity School. They are blessed with three children: Reuben, Sean, and Karisse.
Outside of ministry, Pastor Rj enjoys sports and has recently embraced pickleball. Above all, he is a devoted servant‑leader committed to biblical truth, discipleship, and advancing the Gospel for the glory of God.
